Comments: The Wollemi pine occurs in the wild in only two narrow valleys in the Blue Mountains, at 200 km. away from the Australian metropolis of Sydney. In 1994 David Nobel, a park ranger and avid walker, discovered the trees. Until then this primitive conifer was only known as a fossil. The approximately 60 adult specimens are the last specimens of this "living fossil".
